Tom Pearce, who died recently, was deeply involved with the housing sector from the early 1990s, including serving as a board member for North Wiltshire Housing Association, Westlea Housing Association, and, latterly, the GreenSquare Avon Communities Board.
Marden Communities Board chair David Line paid tribute to Tom at his funeral, speaking on behalf of all at GreenSquare. He said:
"Tom was a passionate champion for improving services, standards and support for residents. He was a great advocate for residents' rights and building stable communities.
"Tom's commitment was unwavering and he always found time in his hectic schedule to attend the various meetings, events and conferences required. He also succeeded in gaining the TPAS certificate in Tenant Participation.
"Tom was a man of conviction and belief, especially when it came to matters effecting residents. It takes a very special person to argue or challenge a majority.
"He put a huge amount of time, energy and commitment into fulfilling his role and seeking to achieve improvements for residents.
"Tom Pearce was a gentle, kind, unassuming and considerate man. A man with real integrity and compassion. He will be deeply missed by us all."
