Our Board Chair Robin Bailey will leave GSA this week

Robin Weekly News

Robin Bailey will stand down as our Board Chair this week.

Robin is stepping down as Board Chair following the successful completion of his three-year term. Robin has been a familiar face for some colleagues for a while having been on our Board since May 2017.

Robin says: “I am extremely grateful for the support I have received throughout my time as Chair from my fellow Board members and colleagues at GSA and it has been a privilege to lead the organisation’s Board through a challenging but exciting period.

“The effort and dedication of colleagues and our involved customers, the very real improvements we have made in the last three years, and the plans we have to continue this improvement, make me confident that GSA will achieve its ambition to become a great social landlord.

“When talking about my time with the organisation it’s hard not to mention the merger and our return to G1 status following an in-depth assessment by the Regulator of Social Housing. The property safety issues identified immediately after merger clearly created some immense difficulties for all of us and achieving G1 status has been an outstanding result given all our efforts.

“We are in a very privileged position at GSA, we look after so many vulnerable people. We must make sure that every day we focus on delivering a brilliant service for these people. I’d like to encourage all colleagues to keep a strong focus on raising the reputation of GSA so that it continues its journey to be an outstanding landlord.

“I’d also like to wish Colin Dennis, your new Board Chair, all the best for the future.”

Our Chief Executive Ruth Cooke says: “Robin has really made the role of Board Chair his own and has set the standard for future holders of this position. He’s been utterly committed to doing the right thing for customers and has given so much of his time and expertise to GSA. On behalf of all Board members and colleagues at GSA we would like to thank Robin for all his efforts in the role of Board Chair. I’m also personally grateful for the support that he’s provided to myself and the Executive Team over the past few years.”

We recently announced that following a thorough recruitment process, we have appointed Colin Dennis as the new Chair to lead our Board. He will take over the reins from Robin at a Board meeting taking place this week.
