It’s Gas Safety Week 2020 (14-20 September) and GreenSquare is supporting the campaign to help raise awareness about the importance of gas safety.
The tenth annual Gas Safety Week, coordinated by the Gas Safe Register, sees organisations from across the UK working together to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
We are using the week to highlight the importance to our customers of gas safety checks and avoiding missed appointments.
Richard Poberezniuk, Operations Manager Gas at GreenSquare, said: “It is very important that customers have their gas appliances checked regularly, even in these unusual times, to make sure that they are working safely and efficiently.
“We are carrying out our gas safety checks as normal, while following strict social distancing guidelines, and with all appropriate PPE. Unfortunately, a number of prearranged gas service appointments are still being missed, often because customers aren’t at home to let our gas engineers in.
“It’s important that customers let us know straight away if the date and time of their appointment isn’t suitable for them, so that we can then arrange a new appointment. We now have a dedicated email address (see below) to request changes to gas appointments, and customers that call our contact centre can choose to be directed straight to our heating team.
“Of course, if you, or a member of your household is showing symptoms of Covid-19, it is essential that you let us know right away, so that we can rearrange.”
Things to remember
• We have a legal duty to service your gas appliances every 12 months.
• As part of our service programme, we will contact you up to two months before your service is due to expire and will write to you with an appointment date offering a morning or afternoon visit. You’ll also receive a text message reminder before the appointment.
• Your annual gas service will be carried out by a gas engineer from GreenSquare, who will come along to your property wearing a GreenSquare uniform and with a GreenSquare name badge around their necks.
• All our gas engineers are legally qualified and on the Gas Safe Register.
To request a change to your gas service appointment, call our contact centre on 01249 465 465 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
