GreenSquare has announced that Ruth Cooke has been appointed as its interim group chief executive, taking over from Howard Toplis.
Ruth is a highly experienced chief executive and finance director. Most recently chief executive at Clarion Housing Group, she was also chief executive at Midland Heart for six years.
While at Midland Heart, Ruth oversaw a transformation in financial and operational performance, including a complete redesign and refocusing of customer services; a strategic review of the care and support operation; creation of an in-house maintenance team; delivery of a large mixed tenure development programme; and a range of other improvements to service delivery.
Ruth was also previously finance director at Midland Heart and has held a range of other senior finance positions at Anchor, Knightstone, and PwC.
Ruth said: "I’m delighted to be at GreenSquare; having spent nearly all of my working life working in and with housing associations, I’m passionate about the importance of housing and support services. A safe and secure home is just about the most important thing we can provide for our customers.
"Over the coming weeks and months, my priority will be to work with colleagues to make sure that we provide a fantastic service to our customers, as well as delivering desperately needed new homes."
Robin Bailey, GreenSquare’s Board Chair, said: “We are delighted that Ruth has joined us, albeit in an interim capacity. She has significant skills and is very enthusiastic about seizing the opportunities at GreenSquare Group. The Board has ambitious plans to benefit our customers and Ruth can help us make significant progress while we recruit a permanent replacement for Howard.”
The GreenSquare Board has started the recruitment process to make a permanent appointment later this year.
