Rose Hill’s annual Eid party is set to take place this week, (Thursday, 26 September) to mark the end of Ramadan, the traditional Islamic month of fasting.
The community celebration, taking place at the Rose Hill Children’s Centre at The Oval, forms part of GreenSquare’s Lottery funded Cultural Food Programme for residents, which encourages culturally diverse groups to cook and eat together.
A variety of activities will be taking place throughout the afternoon, including an Eid celebration lunch and tea, Bollywood dancing, street dancing, face painting, dohl drumming, a bouncy castle, children’s art and craft activities and much more.
Fran Gardner, Rose Hill Community Worker at GreenSquare, says the party is open to all members of Rose Hill’s community: “This celebration has been organised not only to mark the end of fasting, but to bring Rose Hill’s diverse community together and everyone is welcome!
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for families to come along and soak up the vibrant atmosphere whilst getting to know other community members. We hope that people enjoy all of the afternoon’s festivities and learn more about this traditional celebration.”
The party begins at the Rose Hill Children’s Centre at 11am and is expected to finish at 4.30pm. For further information, please call Fran Gardner on 07770 324 277.
