Rose Hill Junior Youth Club has launched an event and outside catering business, all using surplus food cooked in their community kitchen.
The catering business prides itself on providing food to feel good about – and offers a range of fresh, versatile and exciting menus of home-made food, suitable for every occasion.
All the profits from the new catering business will go directly back into the Rose Hill Junior Youth Club, to ensure that this valuable resource can continue for the children in Rose Hill.
Since February, the catering business has raised over £2,500 for the charity.
Fran Gardner, GreenSquare's Rose Hill Community Worker, said:“This is such an exciting new enterprise for us. We were delighted to receive the funding from the Big Lottery Fund last year, but we also need to think about how we can build a reliable funding stream for the future – and we hope that this business will be one of the ways we can ensure Rose Hill Junior Youth Club is able to continue in the long term.
“Plus there are a number of other benefits. We employ local people to help us run the business, who might not otherwise get work; and we use surplus food destined for landfill or incineration, cooking all the food here in our community kitchen.”
