NHF launches Home Truths report 2016/17

The National Housing Federation (NHF) has released its Home Truths 2016/17 report today, which shows that the average price of a home in more than 10 times the average salary. 

The research in the NHF’s Home Truths 2016/17 report shows that across the South West and South East a combination of high house prices and low wages has resulted in an acute housing crisis. These diverse regions, which are characterised by their cities, historical towns, many rural communities and long stretches of coast, suffers from a number of pockets of deprivation.

In Wiltshire, the average house price is £276,295, while average monthly private rents are £774. In Gloucestershire, the average house price is £260,817, with monthly rents at £717. Oxfordshire remains one of the most expensive counties in the UK, with the average house price reaching a staggering £380,526 with rents rising to £1,070.
