Staff from GreenSquare are heading out on the ‘Big Blue Bus’ this summer holiday (July/August, 2013) on a pet-themed road trip, to visit the housing group’s residents at various locations in Wiltshire.
The events, which will be focused around pets and their wellbeing, will give residents the opportunity to receive some advice about caring for their pets on issues relating to flea management and nutrition. Wiltshire Council will also be attending and offering free micro chipping for dogs and the Dogs Trust will be on hand at some of the events to offer expert advice.
Sue Chapman, Community Involvement Officer at GreenSquare, explained: “We are looking forward to jumping aboard the Big Blue Bus and visiting our residents throughout Wiltshire. We know how important pets are to many of our residents, so we would like to encourage people to come along and pick up some hints and tips about de-fleaing and general pet welfare.
“As part of our pet theme, we will also be running a virtual pet show on our Facebook pages throughout the summer, so it would be great if residents could bring along a photograph of their pet, for us to use on our Facebook pages. Or, if residents would like us to take a picture for them, they can bring their pet along on the day to have pet portrait taken by a member of the team.
“We have been on similar road trips in the past and find that these events give residents the chance to ask us any questions they might have particularly about welfare reform and the changes to benefits. It is important that residents have the chance to let us know what they think about their neighbourhoods and recommend any changes we could make.”
The bus will be visiting the following locations:
Friday, 26 July - Newnton Grove, Malmesbury (am), Hullavington and Kington Langley (pm)
Monday, 5 August - Castle Combe, Yatton Keynell and Larkham Rise, Chippenham
Tuesday, 6 August - Lime Kiln, Royal Wootton Bassett (am)
Wednesday, 7 August - Stokes Croft, Calne (am), Lacock Road and Dicketts Road, Corsham (pm)
Thursday, 8 August – Trowbridge, Westbury Leigh (pm)
