GreenSquare has launched a campaign to recruit its new chief executive, following news that David Ashmore is stepping down after 25 years at the helm of the Group and, previously, its subsidiaries Oxford Citizens and Westlea housing associations.
David Ashmore announced his decision to colleagues last September: "By August (2013) I will have worked for 40 years in housing – and will have served as chief executive of Oxford Citizens, Westlea, and then GreenSquare, for the last 25 years which has been an enormous privilege. But I had always planned to do a few other things both in and outside housing at this point in my life."
Hilary Gardner, Group Chair, said: "There's no doubt that David will be a very hard act to follow. He is a leader who inspires others, someone who demonstrates a real passion for his work that's infectious.
"Responding and adapting to the rapidly changing environment in the sector, David has ensured that GreenSquare is expanding and growing its business at a time when it might have been expected to be doing the opposite. He has seen the benefits to GreenSquare of partnership working and has been skilled at establishing, and developing, meaningful and productive external relationships – both within the housing sector and outside of it.
"So this role is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and visionary executive to take an already successful Group to even greater heights, navigating a complex and turbulent external environment and taking measured risks at a time when many businesses do not have the resources to do so.
"He or she will have the support and guidance of our outstanding Board in setting strategy and a strong executive management team in executing it, as well as a very committed and professional staff. Keeping residents at the heart of their vision and plans, our new chief executive can continue to change lives through what we do."
The recruitment consultancy Harvey Nash is coordinating the campaign with full details now online at www.harveynash.com/greensquare. The closing date for applications is 27 January 2013.
