Corsham resident, Gwen Feaver, celebrated her 100th birthday last week, and hosted a party with her fellow residents in the communal lounge at GreenSquare's Jargeau Court.
Gwen, who turned 100 on Thursday (21 November), has lived at Jargeau Court, a 55+ housing scheme, for the past 16 years. Everyone who came to the party enjoyed a buffet lunch, arranged by Gwen's family, and were treated to some live music by resident Graham Peaple, who also lead everyone in a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.
The party was the first of several celebrations to mark Gwen's impressive milestone. She was joined at Jargeau by her daughter Sue, granddaughter Charlotte and the newest addition to the family, her four-month old great-grandson Monty, as well as her carer of five years Davina and GreenSquare community officer Lynda Allen.
Gwen said that she’d had a wonderful time at the party and that she was eagerly awaiting her telegram from the Queen, after speculating for many years that by the time she reached 100, her telegram might be from a King. When asked to share the secret to her long life, she said simply: "Just keep happy!"
Resident and friend June Witt, who has lived at Jargeau Court for nearly 30 years, said at the event: "This lovely lady has been a complete asset to Jargeau Court. We all love her and are delighted to be celebrating reaching this milestone with her. We hope she keeps going for another 20!"
