Art project 'Letters to Myself' is looking for Oxford residents to write a letter to their past, present or future selves ahead of its show in the Burton Taylor Studio at Oxford Playhouse on Tuesday 4 April.
The new theatre show has been created from letters received so far, alongside writing by Becci Sharrock and autobiographical material from the two performers, Lauren Hurwood and Luca Rutherford. Although some of the show already exists it is currently being reworked so that letters received from local residents can also be included at each of the tour dates. That’s why Oxford residents are now being asked to take part and write a letter, which may then be included in the show.
Lew Fryer, GreenSquare's community involvement officer, said: "We are happy to support the project in its quest for letter submissions and we'd like to encourage residents to get involved. The project was kind enough to provide us with some free letter writing kits, which we have distributed at some of our supported housing schemes in Oxford, so we hope that people take the opportunity to write a letter to be included."
Letters to Myself explores the way we talk to ourselves and our relationship with the voice we hear the most, as well as ideas of self-reflection and shared experience. It is a recognition of our shared regret and a celebration of our daily triumphs.
