Households in Dora Carr Close in Northway, Oxford came together to take part in a clean up event today (1 August) alongside staff from GreenSquare and Oxford City Council.
At the event, residents made the most of the opportunity to get rid of their unwanted bulky household items and helped to clean up the area.
Oxford City Council had a stall at the clean up event where they chatted to residents and provided help and advice with recycling; this included handing out food caddies and other promotional items.
Lew Fryer, GreenSquare's community involvement officer said: "We were really pleased with the great turnout. People helped to fill two large skips with their unwanted household waste - in particular the event enabled us to help older residents, and residents with disabilities, who aren't able to easily get rid of unwanted items themselves.
"I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who lent a hand."
One resident, who was delighted that the event had been organised, said: "Marvellous! I've had stuff for over 25 years that I've been wondering how to get rid of. I'm really happy."
