We’re delighted to announce that the first phase of the regeneration of Culverhay in Cricklade is now complete, and residents have started moving into the new properties that have been built there.
Work started on site at Culverhay in May, when our contractors, E G Carter & Co Ltd, demolished four houses and began building eight new properties - five bungalows and three houses.
The properties were handed over from the contractors to GreenSquare yesterday. Today residents started moving into the new homes, having been decanted from properties elsewhere in Culverhay, which are set to be demolished as part of the next phase of the project.
Corrina Johnson, Development Project Manager, said: "The regeneration of Culverhay has been a long time in the planning and there has been a lot of hard work to get to this point. So we are just absolutely thrilled that we have got to the stage where the first phase is complete and residents are moving into their new homes.
"Everything looks great, and E G Carter & Co Ltd have done a fantastic job to get the houses finished this year, so that residents can move in, in time for Christmas.”
The next phase of work will begin at Culverhay in the new year. Phase two of the project will see six bungalows demolished to make way for the construction of 14 new houses.
In total, the project includes plans to demolish 65 older properties in total, replacing them with 109 energy efficient and comfortable homes, which will be a mixture of shared ownership, affordable rent and outright sale.
