GreenSquare's tenancy enforcement team has worked closely with Wiltshire Police to obtain a partial closure order at a home in Swindon, in a bid to prevent drug dealing from the property.
The order was obtained on Wednesday 7 January at Swindon Magistrates Court for the address in Ballyack Close in the town. It bans all visitors to the property apart from the tenant and named relatives, as well as police, GreenSquare staff and other named professionals. If others visit, they are committing an offence and are at risk of being arrested.
Ali Owens, Tenancy Enforcement Officer at GreenSquare, said: "With numerous reports of drug use and drug dealing from the property, as well as intimidating and anti-social behaviour, we have been working hard to take the necessary steps to try and protect other local residents, who have the right to live in a peaceful and safe environment.
"In this instance, we have worked closely with the police and we are pleased to have obtained this closure order. It's not only a great example of collaborative working, but is hopefully reassuring to residents that we all take antisocial behaviour seriously, and will take action when issues are reported to us."
It is hoped that the order will protect nearby residents from criminal activity and further anti-social behaviour taking place at the property.
PC Jack Newman said: "This was one of two closure orders granted at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday. If you have concerns that drug activity is taking place in your neighbourhood, please call us on 101 to report it."
