Newburn House celebrates tenth anniversary

Newburn House, which provides accommodation for 16-24 year old women who are pregnant or have one young child, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month (September 2013).

Set up in 2003, the service  is owned and managed by housing group GreenSquare, working in partnership with Splitz Support Service, and provides a safe and secure place for young mothers and mothers-to-be to stay with support from others in a similar situation.

An anniversary celebration took place on Wednesday, 25 September with more than 60 people in attendance. Hazel Rutland, Project Co-ordinator for Newburn House, said: “We were pleased to welcome back some of the women who have stayed here in the past and it was great to see so many representatives from the agencies we have worked with over the years.

“We are proud to say that over the past ten years, we have successfully provided safe accommodation for 52 women. We are delighted to have been able to provide such a fantastic service and we hope that we’re able to continue for the foreseeable future.”
