Mutual exchange applications on hold

We know that many people might have been looking for a new home recently, and that some of you may have found someone who you could do a mutual exchange with.

Unfortunately, with the current government restrictions that are in place, we are not able to accept applications for mutual exchanges at the moment.

Although the government announced earlier this week that we are now able to re-let empty properties, and let new homes, this process is very different to a mutual exchange. The most important difference is that when we re-let properties or let new homes, they are already empty, unlike in a mutual exchange where both homes are currently occupied.

Emma Stone, Head of Neighbourhoods at GreenSquare, explained: "We know this is an exceptionally frustrating and challenging time for people, however, our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our customers and our staff.

"In the current coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis, the usual property viewings and inspections that must be carried out as part of the mutual exchange process, pose too much of a risk to staff and customers’ health and safety. For everyone’s protection, we simply cannot take any unnecessary risks at this time.

"We will continue to follow advice from the government and will be able to reassess the situation once the current restrictions are lifted further, and we are freely and safely able to visit our customers in their homes again."

Thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times. Please continue to check our website for further details about the services we are currently offering and the changes we are making in line with government guidance.
