GreenSquare runs adult literacy drop-in sessions

GreenSquare, in partnership with Wiltshire Council, has organised a series of drop-in literacy sessions, to provide residents with help and advice on filling in forms and replying to important letters and information.

The free, weekly sessions take place every Wednesday from 9:30am until 11:30am, at the Community Hub in Calne, and every Thursday from 1pm until 3pm, at Sheldon Road Methodist Church in Chippenham.

Funded by GreenSquare, the sessions also offer residents the chance to improve their reading and writing skills with the help of a qualified tutor and, if they wish, work towards a recognised qualification.

Jill Stringfellow, Senior Community Involvement Advisor at GreenSquare, explained: “The aim of these sessions is not just to improve people’s literacy levels and additional skills but to help build their confidence levels as well. They are fantastic for residents who want to upgrade their skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. There is no need to book, just pop in and see us.”
