Today (Tuesday 20 February), GreenSquare has opened a new dedicated stores facility in Calne, in partnership with builders’ merchants Buildbase.
This will enable us to provide a more effective repairs service to our customers.
Through the partnership, Buildbase, owned by Grafton Group plc, will now manage the supply of all building materials to GreenSquare's property services teams from the new branch, and via other dedicated branches in Cowley in Oxford and Gloucester.
Members of GreenSquare's trades staff visited the facility, on Oxford Road in Calne, to familiarise themselves and find out more about the new arrangements. While there, GreenSquare's longest serving trades team member, Craig Austin, joined one of the team’s newest members, and Craig's son, Charlie Austin, to cut the ribbon and declare the branch officially open.
Craig, who has worked as a painter/decorator at GreenSquare for nearly 30 years, said: "I was pleased to join Charlie to cut the ribbon and open the new stores. I have obviously seen quite a few changes at GreenSquare over the years, but I would say that this is one of the biggest – and will certainly have the most direct impact on my job day-to-day. It's good because it means we'll spend less time trying to get materials, and will be able to offer a more efficient service to our customers. I'm looking forward to seeing what it will be like as we get to use it more."
GreenSquare's Procurement Transformation Lead, Charles Hyde, said: "With this new depot, and thanks to this partnership with Buildbase, we will be able to offer a faster, and more cost efficient repairs and maintenance service to our customers across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire."
Roy Mason, Sales Director at Grafton Group plc, said: "We have listened to what GreenSquare is trying to achieve and through this partnership have designed a solution to help them deliver an excellent service to their customers."
GreenSquare has plans to convert its current onsite stores area, located at its head office at Methuen Park in Chippenham, into additional office accommodation, while the stores yard will become car parking for staff.
Charles added: “By having a larger office space at Methuen Park, we will be able to vacate our leased office in Swindon, and invest the rental savings in providing services for our customers, and building much needed new homes.”
