GE Aviation has been announced as a finalist for a Local Business Charity Award, after being nominated by Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS) as a thank you for their ongoing support.
The awards, run by Jelf Insurance Brokers, recognise the support given by local Gloucestershire businesses to the county’s charities. Nominations were received from a large number of local charities, naming firms that have supported them either through time, services or fundraising.
Sally Morrissey, Support Services Manager for GDASS, said: “We are extremely grateful for GE Aviation’s support and jumped at the chance to nominate them for this award, as a way to both highlight and thank them for their generosity. We’re delighted to find out that they have been announced as a finalist.”
At the beginning of this year, GE Aviation presented GDASS with a cheque for £1500 to support the service in 2014 and has been providing help and advice to GDASS clients on CV writing, job applications and job interviews.
In the past the company, which is a world-leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, has helped to provide Christmas presents and Easter eggs for GDASS clients and their children, and its staff frequently raise money in support of the service.
The awards final will take place on Thursday 4 September 2014 in Cheltenham, where the winner of the Corporate Award will receive £1,000 to give to the charity who nominated them.
