Fancy getting involved with a new community newsletter?

Are you a budding writer, editor or designer? Are you looking for a way to give back to the community in Gloucester? We are looking for people who are interesting in getting involved with a brand new community newsletter, designed for people in need of support in the area.

GreenSquare’s housing support service in Gloucestershire is working with support services UKConnect, Independence Trust and the 2gether Trust on the community newsletter project, and are keen to find volunteers to fill the roles of reporter, designer, editor, distributor and fundraiser.

Iona Heaton, Community Involvement Officer at GreenSquare, explained: “If you’re a keen writer or have some artistic talent you’d like to share, or simply think you have some great ideas that could add to the creative process, we’d like to hear from you.

“The newsletter will be for people who need support for issues including mental wellbeing, addiction, long-term health difficulties, and debt. It will pull together information about the support services available in the county as well stories from people who have experienced those services first-hand. We hope that the newsletter will help people to realise that they don’t need to cope alone, and encourage and help them to access the support they need.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new project - and it’ll make a positive addition to your CV. We have a great training program to give volunteers the skills they need to create the newsletter and there will be opportunities for people to identify their own training needs too.”

If you're interested in finding out more, or would like to get involved, call GreenSquare’s housing support service on 01452 726951.
