Congratulations to our Good Neighbour Award winner

We are delighted to announce the Wiltshire winner of our Good Neighbour Awards.

The Good Neighbour Awards were launched in May 2017, to recognise people in the community who go 'above and beyond' to help make life easier for others. Since then the nominations have been flooding in, and we are delighted to announce that we have our first Wiltshire winner – Pat Wright, who lives in Chippenham (pictured right).

Pat was nominated by her neighbour Nichola. She said: "I nominated Pat for a Good Neighbour Award because, when I first moved here, I knew straight away that I had a really good neighbour in Pat, who would be there if I needed her.

"What's amazing about Pat is that she doesn't even realise what a difference she makes. She's not at all intrusive but makes me feel safe and secure. As well as that there are a thousand little things she does – from checking on my dog when I'm working, to looking after parcels that have been delivered to me; she is always ready with a cheerful word.

"There is a strong community feel here, and I know that is largely because of Pat. I'm so pleased that she has been chosen to win this award. I can't think of anyone more deserving."

Pat said: "I'm completely honoured and shocked to even be nominated for the award. I haven't got a secret. I like to ask questions without being nosey – It's just how I am. I'm delighted. I am saving up my prize money for my holidays next year."

Keep an eye on our website to find out who has been awarded a Good Neighbour Award in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire too.

Do you know someone in your community that you think deserves a little recognition? Perhaps someone has helped you to carry your shopping to your front door, or taken out your bins for you. Maybe your neighbour is always willing to lend a helping hand, or you’ve noticed that they always go out of their way to help others.

Why not nominate them for a Good Neighbour Award? The next winner will be chosen in March, and will be awarded a prize of £100.

Nominating someone is easy. You can complete the form online here. Or click here to download a form and send it to Sue Matthews at GreenSquare, Methuen Park, Chippenham SN14 0GU.
