Chair of GreenSquareAccord to retire

Elisabeth Buggins CBE

The Chair of GreenSquareAccord, Elisabeth Buggins CBE, will stand down with effect from 31 October. Her resignation was offered in light of a regulatory notice from the Regulator of Social Housing which finds the Home Standard was breached in some of the homes owned by the former Accord Housing Association (now part of GreenSquareAccord), of which she was Chair.

Elisabeth Buggins said:

“I believe it is in the best interests of the new Group, GreenSquareAccord, to have a new Chair to oversee what I know is a robust recovery plan.

“Having dedicated much of my life to helping those who are less fortunate than myself, such as homeless people and others who struggle to access housing and support, it is disappointing to me that the former Accord Board has been found wanting in some important aspects. I want to thank the Board and staff at both legacy Accord and GreenSquareAccord for their work over the years – I have seen, first-hand, their dedication in improving housing, social support and care, and the positive impact they have made.”

GreenSquareAccord’s Deputy Chair, Robin Bailey will act as interim Chair while a new Chair is sought.
