OCHA’s Rose Hill Community worker, Fran Gardner, runs the five year BIG Lottery-funded Rose Hill project.
Hundreds of residents will benefit from the project which funds a volunteer training and employment programme and supports four sub-projects: Rose Hill Junior Youth Club; Rose Hill News newspaper; a cultural food programme – where two cultural diverse groups cook and eat together; and a new health initiative.
The BIG grant - totalling £361,714 – also means that Fran can be supported by a part-time volunteer co-ordinator - based at the Rose Hill Children’s Centre - and a project administrator.
Speaking in June 2011, when the Big Lottery Fund awarded the grant, Wendy Spray, GreenSquare's head of resident involvement and community investment in the Isis area said: "This really is fantastic news for Rose Hill. It will mean that the exciting work that GreenSquare has started to do with residents, to make Rose Hill a really good place to live, will now be able to continue – and during the next five years can go from strength to strength!"
