Safeguarding

For GreenSquare, safeguarding means protecting our customers’ right to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.

We do this through working with our partners and other organisations to prevent both the risks, and the experience of, abuse or neglect, while making sure their wellbeing is promoted and their preferences are taken into account.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business and we have two policies outlining our approach to this.

The Safeguarding Adults at Risk Policy covers adults and the Safeguarding Children Policy covers children. We acknowledge the universal similarities in safeguarding practice, irrespective of whether the vulnerable group are adults or children. However we will remain conscious of the essential differences that exist between safeguarding children and safeguarding adults.

For children, due consideration must be given to the wishes and feelings of a child, as far as reasonable, before making decisions on what services to provide or action to take. However, authorities have a duty to act in the best interests of the child which may mean contradicting their wishes.

Both policies set out our approach towards safeguarding adults with care and support needs at risk from harm and abuse.

In addition they will:

  • Define our organisational and management responsibilities, including the roles and responsibilities of contractors working on behalf of GreenSquare.
  • Detail the potential signs of abuse and neglect to vulnerable adults at risk and guidance in identifying signs of abuse
  • Detail the processes staff will follow, including how we will ensure a multi-agency approach to reporting and dealing with safeguarding concerns and incidents

If you have any immediate safeguarding concerns then please contact the police on 999 for an emergency, or 111 for a non emergency.
