Scrutiny panel gets to the heart of the matter
![]() |
Already well known for its sector-leading resident involvement work, GreenSquare has set up a cutting-edge Resident Scrutiny Panel.
The panel consists of up to ten residents, half from Oxford Citizens Housing Association (OCHA) and half from Westlea Housing Association. Their role is to scrutinise the work of GreenSquare and its subsidiaries OCHA, Oakus, and Westlea, and to provide a residents’ view about service, performance and the future direction of the businesses.
If the panel is unsure about any of the Board’s decisions, they can call for further information or a review. They keep a close eye on areas of poor performance and the steps being taken to address the issues, and work closely with GreenSquare’s ‘Building Excellence’ groups to help support continuous improvement.
Resident Anthony Shillingford says: ‘I felt the panel would be a good way of using my skills and helping to make a difference. I hope that by looking at things in a slightly different way and looking at the organisation as a whole we can achieve better outcomes for residents.’
And resident Kerry Law, a teacher currently at home looking after her two children, said:‘When I saw the advert for the scrutiny panel I thought it would be good to get involved with something at the beginning. GreenSquare seems to be taking it very seriously and seems to want to make residents’ views far more significant.’
