Robin Bailey has been appointed as the new GreenSquare Group Chair, taking over from Hilary Gardner who is standing down from this role, and from the Board, after seven years.
Robin and Hilary will now work together on a handover before she stands down at the Annual General Meeting on 25 July 2017.
Robin has a strong customer ethos and has been very interested in improving both customer and employee satisfaction in all of the organisations he has worked in. He had a long career with Nationwide Building Society where he worked for many years at director level.
Robin took early retirement from Nationwide in 2011 and that same year was elected to the board of Buckinghamshire Building Society, becoming chair in 2013. At the Buckinghamshire he has significantly strengthened the governance framework for the organisation.
Since leaving Nationwide Robin has also been a board member of a number of other organisations including Forward Swindon and Farmor's School Academy.
Hilary said: "Having had the opportunity to meet Robin, I am absolutely confident that he is the right person to lead GreenSquare going forward. Over the next three months we will work together to ensure a good handover of responsibility, prior to the AGM at the end of July.
"It has been a fantastic seven years for me and a privilege to chair GreenSquare. I wish Robin, the Board and everyone continued success in the future."
Robin said: "I am delighted to be joining such a progressive housing association focused as it is on helping to provide solutions to the country's housing challenges. I have worked for many years in the building society world and hope my skills will help the team become even more successful."
