McCloud partnership is a ‘perfect fit’ for housing group

TV’s Kevin McCloud has reiterated his commitment to beautiful sustainable housing – and formed a joint venture with housing group GreenSquare, as Hab Oakus.

While their 180-home Pickard’s Small Field project in Swindon may not be realised until the housing market picks up, Hab Oakus plans to submit a smaller project, at the nearby Northern Road, for planning permission shortly.

Kevin McCloud said: ‘While this project is much simpler and smaller than our proposals for Pickard’s Small Field, it will be informed by the same fundamental principles – a strong sense of community, a belief in the importance of public space, respect for cyclists and pedestrians, and a commitment to sustainable lifestyles and outstanding contextual design.’

David Ashmore, group chief executive of GreenSquare, said: ‘The Hab Oakus partnership brings together the well-known and respected vision and experience of Kevin McCloud and his team with the all round development expertise and financial strength of GreenSquare, a major housing group with nearly 10,000 homes and an approved government partner for building new homes. It’s a perfect fit. ‘Together, we are committed to building very high-quality, sustainable, environmentally-friendly, well-designed homes and creating a community in which all residents are happy to live.’
