Key regional role for GreenSquare chief
![]() |
David Ashmore, chief executive of GreenSquare – the housing group that includes Chippenham-based Westlea Housing Association – has been elected chair of the National Housing Federation's South West Regional Committee.
The National Housing Federation (NHF) represents 1,200 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England and is the voice of affordable housing. NHF members provide two million affordable homes for five million people. And the Federation's South West Regional Committee plays a vital role in helping promote and represent members' interests effectively. Membership of the Committee is diverse and is drawn from a wide cross-section of association representatives, including chief executives, board members, and senior directors, drawn from across the region.
"I am passionate about the great things that housing associations do across the South West and the value we bring in the communities in which we work," said David.
"The NHF plays a key role in supporting and promoting us. We need to protect investment in building the many thousands of new affordable homes that are needed in Wiltshire, Swindon, and across the South West to meet growing waiting lists. Protecting an affordable house-building programme also helps protect jobs in the construction sector and helps the wider economy."
David had been chief executive of Westlea Housing Association since 2002 when appointed as chief executive of the GreenSquare group formed by Westlea and Oxford Citizens housing associations in 2008. He has over thirty years' housing experience in senior roles and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
