It’s with great sadness that we share news that Grant Addison, member of the GreenSquare Customer Service Committee, died on 11 May after a battle with cancer.
Grant’s passion to serve the local community and desire to make a difference encouraged him to apply for a position at GreenSquare and secured his appointment to the Avon Communities Board in 2011. He brought with him significant experience of senior management in the NHS, the public and third sectors – as well as extensive IT Project Management skills.
A great contributor to those meetings, his wealth of skills and knowledge were soon further recognised and so began his membership of the Audit Committee in September 2013 and, more recently, the Customer Service Committee June 2015.
Grant wanted to make sure that GreenSquare delivered a great quality service to residents, and to work with his fellow Board and Committee members to ensure that GreenSquare became a better landlord, helping residents to enjoy their home and make the communities in which we have homes more satisfying places to live.
Andrew Smith, GreenSquare's Operations Director, said: "I greatly enjoyed working with Grant. He fully understood our organisation, values and what we are trying to achieve. He had that rare ability of being able to step back from a situation or problem and provide a different perspective, enabling us to make better decisions. I also found him personally very supportive, a great strategic thinker but also able to act at an individual level to display empathy and understanding. I will greatly miss his contributions."
Phyllis Starkey, Chair of the Customer Service Committee, said: "Grant made a valuable contribution to the work of the Customer Service Committee. His contributions were always incisive and to the point, and he was particularly effective in keeping the committee focused on value for money as well as service quality. He was unfailingly pleasant to work with and he will be greatly missed."
