GreenSquare's latest development in Oxford, Barns Place, has been shortlisted for a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South 2017 Award.
Barns Place, which comprises 40 contemporary apartments, is located on Barns Road in Cowley. Designed by award-winning London-based architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the building is one of only 15 buildings to be shortlisted for the award.
Barns Place also incorporates new premises for a furniture recycling store operated by charity Emmaus, and a community space known as The Venue@Cowley.
RIBA Regional Awards are given to a UK building for its regional importance as a piece of architecture. More than 40 entries were submitted for the award, which included buildings from across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Middlesex.
Marita Ford, Development Manager at GreenSquare, said: “We are delighted that Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and Barns Place have been shortlisted for this award.
“Barns Place is a building with real presence – with a prominent street frontage and a front elevation sweeping in an elegant curve mapping the shape of the street. The apartments offer warm and efficient spaces that are easy to use and maintain and all residents have access to the roof terrace where they can look across Oxford and its spires. We’ll look forward to finding out the results in May.”
The winners will be announced at an awards event at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday 25 May. For more information about RIBA, visit www.architecture.com.
